Week 2 College Football News and Notes

Well, week 2 is in the books and some of the outcomes have many heads spinning.  We prompted a steady weekend at a 4-2 mark cashing in with the Gators and Texas A&M most notably.  What will week 3 hold?

Summary of Week 2

1) Ohio State - A shocker in Ohio was about to unfold as the Buckeyes almost blew their entire season to Ohio of all schools.  They didn't even come close to covering and almost lost the game outright.  Is this really a team that should be National Title Worthy?

We will see this week versus USC.

2) ACC - The ACC got a nice victory over the SEC last weekend with WFU kicking a last second field goal to down Ole Miss at home.  They still didn't cover, and almost lost alright.  Still, this was a win over the SEC and looks good for the ACC's standings.

However, Maryland was beat at home in a surprising upset to Middle Tennessee as the 14 point favorite.  They were completely dominated from the go and if this conference wants to improve their status can't give up losses like this, especially at home to lower quality opponents.

UNC hits the road to take on Rutgers and would be a huge win for this conference if the Heels could secure a victory on Thursday night.

3) ECU - The Pirates continue to rob opponents of their ranking knocking off a potent WVU offense last Saturday.  Will the streak continue?  The Pirates have the Green Wave on the road and are the slated 13 point favorite.  West Virginia will certainly drop in the ranks.  It will be interesting to see how ECU handle inter conference play this season.

4) SEC - This conference continues to show domination for the most part with Florida trouncing Miami and covering as the 23 point favorite.  SC was downed by rival Vanderbilt who looks to be a surprise this season.

5)  USC - The Trojans had a nice bye week, but will they be prepared for Ohio State in week 3?  The Trojans are currently listed as the 10.5 point favorite as the Bucks have lost big games over the last 2 years at almost every stop.  It will be interesting to see how this game turns out in week 3.
