NFL Week 1 News and Notes

Week 1 is in the books and a solid one at that striking a 5-2 ATS record overall.  Let's review some of the highlights from week 1.

1) Tom Brady - One of the greatest competitors and the best QB in the NFL will be rehabbing this season, instead of throwing to Randy Moss.  Cassell will look to impress this week against the Jets, but by looking at his preseason performances the last 3 years, it's tough to believe he will muster and more than 4 wins the rest of the season.

2) Brett Favre - The gunslinger is back as led his team to a decided victory covering the posted spread.  It seems this Jets team could really do some damage without Tom Brady in the division.

3) The Bills are for Real - Not sure if it was just a sorry Seahawks team, but the Bills actually looked like a viable contender this week.  We will keep an eye on this team as we are sure the oddsmakers are a bit concerned and baffled at this point.

4) Aaron Rodgers - One of the big stories this week was Aaron Rodgers debut with the Packers.  Not only did he throw the ball well, he also proved he can roll out of the pocket and make plays on his own.  I guess being mentored by Favre has payed off!

5) Injuries - We had Brady at the top of the list, but overall we have seen some unfortunate setbacks in week 1.

Brady - Out for Season
Colston - Out 4-6 Weeks
Merriman - Out for Season

All in all, week 1 proved to be an exciting week.  Notable upsets included the Bears over the Colts (Bears +10.5) Panthers over the Chargers (Panthers +8.5), Bills over the Seahawks (Bills +2.5).
